Do I need a council permit for a new driveway?

For the crossover between the road and your property boundary, usually yes. Most Melbourne councils, Brimbank included, need a vehicle crossing permit before a crossover is built or changed. Ask about it when you get your quote.

How soon can I drive on a new driveway?

As a general guide, new concrete takes foot traffic after a day or two and a car after about a week, and it keeps gaining strength for around four weeks. You will be told what applies to your pour.
